Open actions from last meeting

  1. Review PLI whether FAS supplied PLI provides sufficient cover – DT

Cover is currently provided through FAS and been recently renewed at a cost around £60.

It is possible that the current cover could leave members of the society liable for damages. However, providing alternative private cover is likely to cost over £400.

Action: Definition of current cover to be obtained from FAS or broker – JR

Action: Electrical equipment to be PAT (Portable Appliance Testing). – JR – Complete

Action: The advantages of setting up a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) to limit members liability be investigated – JR – Complete

The managing the society as a CIO is quite complex, if we feel we need more comprehensive cover than that provided by the current insurance then this could be provided by private insurance. (see above)

  1. Non-members attending observing events – KP

Action: Normally accompanied by a member. But to avoid misunderstandings a “Guide to Observing Etiquette” should be available. KP to forward a guide he uses with his adult education group to AC/JR – KP

Action: Decision will be delayed until nearer the AGM, whether to delay the renewal date or reduce the fees. – All

  1. Continue with online meetings (speakers/discussion groups/demos) – DT

Action: Send email to all members outlining society’s approach. – DT/KP

Action: June speaker has withdrawn. KP will give a talk in June and DT in July.

Action: Email a reminder to all members the day before the online meetings. – CR
