Library and Loan Equipment

Library

Farnham Astronomical Society has over 150 books that have been donated to, or purchased by the society for the benefit of members.

There are plenty of books for the beginner from well known names like Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan, Patrick Moore and Brian Cox, alongside plenty of star maps and guides to the night sky or choosing a telescope.

There are also more technical publications from experts in imaging, operating telescopes and more scientific approaches to observing.

Members who wish to borrow a book, can consult the list, contact the Librarian and pick up the book at the next meeting.

Loan Equipment

Members of the society can borrow or hire any equipment from our collection of telescopes. Our Equipment Custodian can help find equipment suited to the individual’s needs, situation, and level of experience.

Some higher-value items will generally not be available for loan to beginners, junior members, or recent joiners and our Custodian has discretion over any loans. The normal loan period will be 1 calendar month, extended by agreement and there being no other members waiting for the same equipment.

Loans are arranged with our Custodian and the equipment collected and returned by the member at one of our regular monthly meetings.

Just a selection of our loan equipment, Members have access to the full list!
